What's your situation?
Pick the one closest to yours. Each route takes you to exactly what to do next — nothing to read that doesn't apply to you.
Insurer vs us
Claim on your own policy, or claim from theirs? It's not close.
After a non-fault accident you have two routes. One costs you your excess and puts a claim on your record. The other doesn't.
Route A
Through your own insurer
Your excess
You pay it first — usually £250 to £1,000 — and try to get it back later.
Your no-claims bonus
A claim goes on your own policy. Your bonus can be affected until fault is settled.
Claim on your policy
Yes — a claim is opened against you and stays on your record.
Replacement car
Whatever your policy allows — often a small hatchback, sometimes nothing.
If you drive for Uber, Bolt or FREENOW
Standard courtesy cars aren't PCO-licensed. You can't work.
Who chases the at-fault insurer
You do — on hold, between jobs, for weeks.
Route B
Not on your recordWith Courtesy Cars UK
Your excess
Nothing to pay. We claim from the at-fault driver's insurer, not you.
Your no-claims bonus
No claim on your policy, so your no-claims bonus isn't touched.
Claim on your policy
No. It's not on your record — the at-fault insurer carries it.
Replacement car
Like-for-like. TfL-plated if you drive PCO, so it matches what you lost.
If you drive for Uber, Bolt or FREENOW
TfL-licensed replacement so you keep earning while your car is fixed.
Who chases the at-fault insurer
We do. Every call and letter is logged in your portal.
You should still tell your own insurer the accident happened — that's a notification, not a claim. Under credit hire we seek to recover charges from the at-fault party's insurer. Recovery is not guaranteed and you may be liable under your agreement if the claim is unsuccessful or you are found to be at fault. How we are paid.
How it works
From crash to settlement in four moves
You do one thing: tell us what happened. We do the rest, and you watch it happen.
90 SECONDS
Tell us what happened
In your own words, on your phone. Photos are sealed and time-stamped. You sign electronically — written terms first.
- Reg lookup fills your car's details
- Eight guided photos, sealed
- Nothing to pay
WITHIN 2 HOURS
Your car arrives
TfL-licensed, like-for-like, Uber and Bolt ready. Check it with our driver and sign the condition report on their phone.
- Delivered to you inside London
- PCO-plated if you drive PCO
- Condition report signed on the spot
FROM DAY 1
We deal with the insurer
Notification to the at-fault insurer on day one. Every letter, call and repair step shows in your portal the day it happens.
- Not claimed on your policy
- Every step logged and visible
- Nothing agreed without your say-so
SETTLEMENT
Your losses, itemised
Hire, recovery, storage, loss of earnings — each head of loss listed with its evidence and pursued from the at-fault insurer.
- Schedule of loss, every item sourced
- Car returned when your car is back
- You see what's agreed, line by line
PCO & private hire
Built for PCO drivers who can't afford a week off the road.
A standard courtesy car isn't PCO-licensed, so you can't work in it. Ours are TfL-plated, delivered in 2 hours, and your lost earnings are claimed from the at-fault insurer — not written off.
The 72-hour rule
Tell TfL within 72 hours or risk your licence. We deliver within 2 hours and prepare your TfL notification with you.
Uber, Bolt and FREENOW ready
Every replacement car is TfL PHV-licensed and plated, so it can go on the platform the same day it lands.
Platform documents in one pack
PHV licence, insurance certificate, MOT and hire agreement — ready to upload to your driver account.
Loss of earnings
Every day off the road is listed as a head of loss, evidenced with your platform statements, and pursued from the at-fault insurer.
Your client portal
Watch your claim happen. Live.
No call centre. No "we'll get back to you". Every step is logged the moment it happens, and you can see it from your phone.

No small print
How we are paid, in plain English
The at-fault driver's insurer is asked to pay the hire and repair costs — not you. No upfront payment, no cut of your compensation, and every figure in writing before you sign.
Read the plain-English version£0 upfront, £0 during the hire
Charges are claimed from the at-fault insurer under a credit hire agreement.
Written terms before you sign
Two-line plain-English summary on every document. Full wording one tap away.
The one honest caveat, up front
If a claim fails because the evidence doesn't support your account, you could become liable. We tell you where you stand before anything is signed.
Questions, answered
Straight answers — no small print
The questions drivers actually ask us, answered the way we'd answer them on the phone.
The at-fault driver's insurer covers your replacement vehicle, recovery, storage and repairs. Under UK law you're entitled to be put back in the position you were in before the accident — that's exactly what we pursue on your behalf. You pay £0 upfront; hire costs are claimed directly from the third-party insurer.
Nothing upfront and nothing during the hire on a non-fault claim — we recover our costs from the at-fault insurer, never from you. The one honest caveat: if a claim later fails because fault evidence doesn't support your account, you could become liable. Your handler will always tell you where you stand before anything is signed.
Not through us. Because the claim runs against the at-fault driver's insurer, your own policy isn't claimed on — you pay no excess and your no-claims bonus stays intact. You should still tell your own insurer an accident happened (most policies require it), but the claim itself never touches your record.
Disputed liability is common, and we handle it. We secure your replacement vehicle once the evidence supports your account, then our claims team build the file — photos, dashcam footage, witness statements, damage mapping — to challenge the denial. If the driver is uninsured or untraced, we pursue recovery through the Motor Insurers' Bureau (MIB) route instead.
Within 2 hours across Greater London for eligible customers — that's our standard, not a best-case scenario. Outside the M25 it's typically same-day. Your handler confirms your exact delivery window the moment your claim is validated, and you can watch the driver's approach live in your tracker.
For as long as you reasonably need it: while yours is being repaired, or if it's a write-off, until settlement is agreed. Typical repair hires run 10–21 days. There's no meter running against you — the at-fault insurer funds the hire for the reasonable repair or settlement period.
You keep the replacement until the at-fault insurer agrees a pre-accident valuation and pays out. We help you challenge lowball valuations with comparable-market evidence, and can source your next vehicle from our own stock when you're ready. Once settled, the hire simply ends — there's nothing to pay and nothing to chase.
Credit hire is an established part of UK motor claims: we provide your replacement car now and invoice the at-fault insurer later, so you're never out of pocket. Daily rates are set in line with what insurers routinely accept for like-for-like vehicles. Your agreement is explained in plain English before you sign.
Yes — it's our specialism. We deliver TfL-licensed, plated, Uber-and-Bolt-ready replacements (Prius, Corolla, Octavia and more) within 2 hours, and we file the TfL 72-hour vehicle-change notification so your licence stays compliant while your car is off the road. Every day without a car is lost fare money — our job is to make that window as short as possible.
Yes — if your PCO-licensed vehicle comes off the road, TfL requires the vehicle change to be notified within 72 hours, or your licence can be suspended. When we deliver your plated replacement, we handle the 72-hour notification with the new vehicle's details for you, so compliance is one less thing on your plate.
Just your registration and a two-minute online report — your name, contact details and what happened. Photos, driving licence and insurance documents can follow later; your handler chases anything missing and validates the rest. The sooner you report, the faster the car arrives, so don't wait for paperwork to start.
Vehicle delivery: 2 hours. Repairs: typically 7–21 days depending on parts and assessor availability. Full settlement including hire recovery: usually 4–12 weeks. Every milestone is visible in your live tracker, and your handler is one tap away throughout — you're never left guessing what's happening.

Our accident line is open 24/7 — no queues, no scripts.
